  Neurooncology

A brain tumour diagnosis is a serious one and one which has far-reaching implications for the patient and his family. We plan to spend a great deal of time with such patients at their first consultation. The patient will often want a second opinion, or it might be a question of outpatient oncological post-care examination to consider the latest methods of chemotherapy.

Smaller interventions such as Ommaya reservoir Implants (special reservoir linked to the brain chamber system or to tumour cysts to evacuate fluids or deliver drugs) or biopsies (removal of tissue) are carried out on a short-term inpatient basis. We have contacts with leading centers throughout the world in the framework of our international competence network.

During his work at the "Klinikum rechts der Isar" Dr. Schroeder developed the "Fluorescence-guided navigated Neuroendoscopy (FGNN)" and performed surgery on countless patients with this technique. Biopsies of brain tumours can be performed by minimally invasive endoscopy using such a navigation system.
